SMOALD Car Storage is a plan for indoor storage for supercars and classic cars, in a large building on our family farm near Widnes. It's a long-term plan, and it will be built properly, one step at a time.

The place

Two minutes from the M62. Hidden from the road.

Union Bank Farm is our family's farm in Bold, just outside Widnes. It has five large farm buildings, and one of them is set to become the car store.

It sits a couple of minutes from Junction 7 of the M62, roughly halfway between Liverpool and Manchester. That makes dropping off or collecting a car an easy trip from Cheshire, Merseyside, Greater Manchester and Lancashire.

The care

These are the plans, not promises yet. Every one will be checked with the right experts before the doors open, and this page will say so when it's done.

Dry, steady air

Indoor bays with the humidity kept in check, because damp is what slowly damages paint, chrome, leather and wiring.

Batteries kept alive

A battery conditioner on each car, so it starts when you come to collect it.

Covered and spaced out

A breathable, soft cover on every car, with plenty of room between bays so nobody opens a door onto your wing.

Secure

Alarmed, camera-watched and locked, with visits by appointment. Security will be designed with specialists before any car arrives.

Insured the right way

Proper storage-keeper's insurance is on the to-do list before opening. We'll show you exactly what's covered.

Ready when you are

Book a time, and your car is uncovered, checked over and ready for a drive.

Who it's for

Owners who drive on the good days.

Maybe it's a classic that comes out for summer shows. Maybe it's a supercar that deserves better than a cold garage or the side of the drive. Maybe the garage at home is simply full.

Either way, the idea is the same: your car rests somewhere dry and safe through the months it isn't being driven, and it's ready when the sun comes out.

This is a long-term project. Here's roughly how it will unfold.

    Talking to owners about what they want from storage, and building the Founding Member list.

  2. Early 2030s

    Planning and checks

    Planning permission with St Helens Borough Council, plus insurance, security and fire safety advice.

  3. After that

    Fitting out the building

    Turning a farm building into proper car storage: floor, lighting, air, power and security.

  4. Around 2033

    First car in

    Founding Members hear first, and get the first bays.
